Bias-ply tires are built from layers of fabric cord laid at alternating angles across the tire. Each ply works with the ones around it, so when a cut or puncture breaks through, the strength of those crossing plies has to be restored for the tire to go back to work.

Elk Valley Bias Patches are made for this construction, and are sized to the damage and to the tire's ply rating. Like all our patches, they're black with our bright-orange edge layer, so the repair is easy to spot at every inspection.
